Land surveying, also called legal land surveying, is the set of services performed by the land surveyor that relate directly to land or a parcel of land in the legal sense defined by the laws of Quebec and Canada. Land surveying is the exclusive practice of the land surveyor according to article 34 of the Land Surveyors Act (CQLR, c. A-23) and many of the following services are governed by regulations made under the aforesaid law.
Technical description, servitude
New condominium (condo)
Staking & demarcation
Cadastral plan, subdivision
Technical surveying is the set of services relating to the measurement and positioning of natural or anthropogenic elements (such as a structure, a building) and whose work purposes do not directly relate to the legal limits of a land. The land surveyor is the expert in this field and is the only professional with the skills to guarantee and measure accuracy.
